Because the actuators on the LAGUNA are positioned differently from those on the SAFRANE and ESPACE, and
because the computer is the same for all these vehicles, it is essential to program it so that it knows the type of
vehicle to which it is fitted. This operation allows the movement type of the actuator to be selected during the actuator
initialisation operation (actuator rod movement in or out).
If this procedure is not performed, the computer generates a Sensors outside permitted values on initialisation fault.
For safety reasons, it will then be impossible to input an actuator command (risk of damaging the actuator).
Each time it is switched on, the computer performs an initialisation operation which operates the actuators (the light
beam moves downwards then returns to the correct ride height setting).
This actuator initialisation can be seen by switching on the ignition and the headlights in the dipped beam position. If
there is no actuator movement, this may indicate that the computer has been incorrectly programmed and/or
incorrectly calibrated.
Calibration (initialisation) of the system is essential for correct operation. It consists of defining a reference plane
which will be used to determine variations in ride height requiring a correction of the dip angle. Without calibration,
there is no actuator initialisation and the actuators will remain in a fixed position.
