"Mercedes C" ir "Renault Laguna" pripažinti vienais saugiausių naujų automobilių Europoje.
Šie automobiliai organizacijos "Euro NCAP" teste surinko po 36 balus iš 37 galimų. Nuo nugalėtojų šiek tiek atsiliko "Mazda 2" ir "Volvo V70", surinkę po 34 balus.
Ekspertai pabrėžia, kad "Renault Laguna" galėjo būti įvertintas maksimaliai, tačiau šoninio smūgio testo metu atsidarė galinės durelės – dėl to automobilis neteko vieno taško.
Tyrime taip pat dalyvavo "Daihatsu Materia" ir "Honda Civic", atitinkamai įvertinti 27 ir 32 taškais. Už pėsčiųjų apsaugą geriausiai įvertintas "Honda Civic". Taip pat tirtas vaikų saugumas, tačiau čia nė vienas automobilių nebuvo įvertintas maksimaliai.

2000 metų pabaigoje po beveik septynerių gamybos metų pirmos kartos Laguna buvo pakeistas antraja, kuri pasidalijo savo važiuokle su Nissan Primera modeliu. Naujoji Laguna visuotinai vertinama kaip vienas saugiausių automobilių Europoje. Tai pirmas automobilis Europoje įvertintas 5 žvaigždutėmis EuroNCAP susidūrimo testuose. Naujoji laguna turi “keyless” variklio užvedimo sistemą – vietoj rakto naudojama panaši į kreditinę kortelė, taip pat elektroninį rankinį stabdį matytą Scenic ir Espace modeliuose. 2005 metų kovą Laguna buvo truputį atnaujinta – tapo dar saugesnė, geriau valdoma ir patogesnė...
